Kathryn (Katey) joined IES in 2024 as a Program Officer, and her portfolio includes grants under the research topics of Transition to Postsecondary Education, Career, and/or Independent Living and Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Competence. Previously, Katey researched self-determination, inclusion, secondary transition practices, and employment for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as a special education faculty member at Temple University. She received her Ph.D. in special education from the University of Kansas. Prior to her research career, Katey was a special education teacher in Philadelphia.
