Matthew E Foster is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of South Florida. Prior to completing his doctoral training in developmental psychology, Dr. Foster was a special educator. His research agenda focuses on three themes: (1) individual differences related to academic achievement and social-emotional functioning; (2) interventions and evidence-based practices that foster language development and academic achievement; and (3) developing early childhood progress monitoring and kindergarten readiness assessments with current funding, Dr. Foster is examining the heterogeneity of academic achievement and social-emotional functioning within the Latinx dual language learning population in South Florida Head Start classrooms.
